Hungaroring's Major Renovation Receives High Praise During Key Inspection
Formula 1, the FIA, and representatives from the F1 teams have completed a comprehensive inspection of the significantly revamped Hungaroring circuit, located near Budapest. The visit, which took place just under two months before the Hungarian Grand Prix, focused primarily on the circuit's brand-new main building and team garages.
The Hungaroring has undergone the most extensive reconstruction and modernization project in its history since hosting last year's Grand Prix. This ambitious undertaking saw the complete demolition and rebuilding of the main building, which now houses state-of-the-art team garages and circuit offices. Alongside this, the main grandstand was also entirely demolished to make way for a new structure, the main entrance has been renovated, and the main straight has been resurfaced.
The three-day inspection earlier this week marked a crucial milestone in the project's final phase. While Formula 1 Management, the FIA, and the teams have maintained continuous communication and conducted monthly monitoring visits, this latest inspection provided a detailed look at the key operational areas and infrastructure.
Officials from the Hungaroring welcomed the international delegation, guiding them through the extensively expanded facilities. The tour allowed visitors to ask questions, take notes, and exchange ideas regarding the new setup.
Initial feedback from the inspecting parties has been overwhelmingly positive. Visitors expressed astonishment at the sheer scale and speed of the transformation, noting that the venue had undergone radical changes in just nine months. Crucially, the quality of the workmanship received particular commendation.
The representatives observed that while rapid development is sometimes seen at other circuits, achieving such a high standard of execution simultaneously is rare. They offered congratulations to the Hungaroring team on the successful completion of the work.
The strong initial impressions led to the significant view being expressed that, in terms of infrastructure, the Hungaroring may now position itself among the top racing circuits globally. This positive assessment bodes well for the circuit as it prepares to host the Formula 1 paddock and fans at the beginning of August, showcasing its impressive new facilities.
